Shannen's Bio

Hii!
I'm Shannen (I go by Maeva) and I'm 25 years old living in Vancouver, BC. I have many years of experience caring for children!
Just recently I was working as a school-age teacher for a before and after school at Shaunessy Elementry for a year and when I was a bit younger I was also a nanny for toddler twins, and before that I spent 3 years caring for a 7-9 year old boy (and hosted playdates with him and his friends) on weekends and after school. I even volunteered at his school several times.

With these experiences I was able to fully step into the roll as both a caregiver and a friend. I help with homework, teach them tools to self-regulate especially with siblings that may fight, but also love to be creative, spend engaging time together and make them feel safe and understood. I deeply understand that each child is an individual with individual wants and needs and I'm confident I can adjust to each child accordingly.

Working with kids is one of the many things in life that genuinely brings me joy, growing up I had a little brother who I adored and since then I felt it was important for me to continue to care for children. My goal is to get a bachelors education in teaching and become a middle school or high school teacher, but until then I believe nannying is something that is equally important.

I have experience with special needs children due to working at Shaunessy elementry including: adhd, children dealing with grief and loss, autism and physical disabilities such as heart disease.
