Looking for families in Vancouver, BC, Canada
Hello Families!
I am an experienced childcare provider and ECE student looking to fill out my schedule with some part time work. I can start as soon as needed. I come with excellent references, as well as recently updated first aid.
I am 25 years old and live in Hastings-Sunrise. I'm from Vancouver Island originally, but grew up in Vancouver part-time as well. English is my first language, and I know some basic French. My interests include visual arts, reading, writing poetry, dance, and fashion. I enjoy spending time in the sun at parks and beaches, listening to podcasts, and creating art.
I consider myself a compassionate person, with a fun sense of humour and a natural calling to help others. My work with children is beyond rewarding to me, and I would love to help your family out.
Experience:
I have been pretty consistently babysitting since I was 13. My experience in licensed centres began in 2019. I estimated about 6 years of more serious experience - in licensed centres or elsewhere.
I've worked in early learning, after school care, as an educational assistant, and as a nanny. I can send over my full resume if you are interested.
My current role is with a family of four with two boys - 4.5yo and 19mo. I drive the children in the family car, pack and prepare meals for the children (occasionally the whole family), do the children's laundry, and light housekeeping during nap time. Their hours with me will be reducing to 9/week in September.
Educational Goals:
I am attending Langara for the ECE certificate program. It is online except for a few short practicum periods, which I will be able to give advance notice of. Eventually I plan to complete the Infant/Toddler Educator Certificate as well.
Past Education:
Vancouver Island University:
Completed up to Year 3 of the Bachelor of Education program at VIU. I realized that my passion is in childcare and early learning, rather than in a K-12 classroom setting. I also completed plenty Visual Arts courses.
University of British Columbia
Completed the first year program entitled: “Law and Society” (Social Justice, Writing, History, Anthropology, Sociology, etc)
Planned a major in Psychology and a minor in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice.
